Governor extends Durga Puja and Dussehra greetings
Kolkata, Oct 3 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi today greeted the people of the state ahead of the festive season and extended warm wishes for Durga Puja and Dussehra.
In a statement the Governor said, ''The arrival of Goddess Durga kindles the feelings of love, peace and harmony in the hearts of the people. The Goddess brings with her all the positive forces of peace and prosperity.
"While celebrating the festivals, we must ensure that the poor and downtrodden sections of the society are not deprived of the joy and enthusiasm that the festive season brings along with it,'' the statement added.
''I also appeal to all the Puja organisers to fulfil their social responsibilities by extending financial assistance and support to the people hit by floods and other natural calamities as well as to the poverty-stricken,'' the Governor said.
