Farmers stage agitation against load shedding
Nashik, Oct 3 (UNI) Farmers today staged a 'halabol' agitation in the district.
Around 500 farmers from Agaon Vinchurgant and other 20 villages from the district, who are facing inconvenience due to load shedding for last six months, took part in the agaition. These farmers had earlier staged agaitation six months ago for the same reason. At that time, Maharashtra State Electicity Board (MSEB) officials had given an assurance that their problems would be solved in six months time, which expired yesterday.
However, despite assurance from the MSEB officials, the load shedding situation rather worsened in the last six months.
Following this, the farmers alongwith their families participated in the morcha today. They marched to the MSEB head office at Nashik Road, where police prevented them from entering the building.
The protestors later 'gheraoed' the MSEB officials and demanded immediate action. Failing which, they threatened to intensify their agitation.
To control the protestors, police had mobilised 'Vajra', the riot control vehicle and had stopped the vehicular traffic on Nashik-Pune highway for nearly two hours during the agitation.
