MP: Cong candidates list soon, says Digvijay

Guna (MP), Oct 3: Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said the list of party candidates for the coming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh would be announced soon.

The delay was due to the festivities, but there was possibility of announcing the candidates very soon, Mr Singh told newspersons here.

Feigning ignorance about the reported relaxation in norms for allotting tickets to senior leaders, he said party's state incharge General Secretary V Narayansami or PCC chief Suresh Pachouri could provide information about it.

The party was of the view that in reserved constituencies, candidates belonging to that category should be given an opportunity taking into account winning prospects, he said during a visit to his home town Raghogarh to participate in a religious programme.

Mr Singh, who is incharge of selecting Congress candidates for the Assembly elections in neighbouring Rajasthan, said the Central Screening Committee had already met and the list of candidates was expected to be announced soon.
