BJP demands probe into delays in sugar releases

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Identifying ''deliberate delay'' as the cause of artificial shortage and rising prices of sugar in the market, the BJP today asked the Government to inquire into the causes behind the delay.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar, demanding adequate quantities of sugar during the festive seasons, said that it was surprising that the government release on sugar did not specify monthly release of quanitity but only gave details regarding half-yearly releases.

This had added to the problem of shortage. The release details from October to December should be monthwise to maintain transperency as the stockists would have a field day in the coming festival season.
