Ajay Katara might lose security cover: UP police
Lucknow, Oct 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police has denied any political connection in the arrest of Ajay Katara, the main eyewitness in the Nitish Katara murder case in which Vikas Yadav, son of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA D P Yadav has been sentenced to life term.
The state police was also examining on the withdrawal of police security given to Ajay after he was arrested last night in connection with the attempt of kidnapping of one Dharmendra Yadav in Ghaziabad.
State Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brijlal said here today that Ajay along with two police gunners kidnapped Dharmendra from his residence at Indrapuram, Ghaziabad by saying that he had come from Sahibabad police station.
Later, the family members of Dharmendra chased the vehicle of Ajay and freed him. Anjula Yadav, wife of Dharmendra lodged a complaint with police of kidnapping and misbehaviour against Ajay which led to his arrest.
Mr Brijlal said police had acted on the merit of the case and there was no political pressure. He also said that the government was examining whether the police security provided to Ajay Katara could be withdrawn after he misused them for abduction.
