8 terror suspects held and detained for interrogation

Mangalore, Oct 3: Eight suspected terrorists were taken into custody and detained for interrogation on Friday, Oct 2 in a joint operation conducted by the district police, Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) and Mumbai police.

According to police, in the first operation, the team cordoned off a house at Muttachery in Ullal and took into custody two people, Mohammed Ali and his son Javed.

The police, based on the information provided by the duo, apprehended two people from Subhashnagar near Pandeshwar in the city, three from Chembugudde in Ullal and one from Haleyangady near Mulky in Moodabidre taluk.

The police seized vital CDs, Rs 11 lakh in cash, five crude bombs, grenades, ammonium nitrate timer, mobile phone and a Mangalore city map from those held in Chembugudde. The trio were taken to an undisclosed place for interrogation.

Mohammed Ali owned a house at Merry Hill in the city and had been residing there for the last 13 years. He, later moved to Muttachery.

Police, however, refused to divulge more details as it would hamper investigation.
