Retired judge to look into Dow project: Mah CM
Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said a committee under a retired judge would be appointed to look into the demands of the 'Varkari' community in Pune district, who are opposing the setting up of the US-based Dow Chemicals plant there.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Deshmukh said already two committees are working on the project.
He added that this company will invest Rs 450 crore into the project and would give jobs to 400 engineers.
He further said there would be no pollution as the company will set up its research and development facility in Pune.
After protests from the Varkaris, Mr Deshmukh ordered to hault the work on the project for a month.
