Paswan congratulates PM, UPA govt for clinching Nuclear deal
New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), an ally of the UPA at the Centre, today congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA Government for clinching the Indo-US Civilian Nuclear Agreement.
The LJP president and Chemicals, Fertilizers and Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan in a statement issued here said the agreement which is in the best national interest has been successfully concluded after tireless efforts put in by the Prime Minister and Indian officials.
''It has proven to be a momentous and historic occasion for India,'' he added.
Mr Paswan said this agreement has ended India's 34-year exclusion from the elite nuclear club and would allow India an access to nuclear technology. It would go a long way in securing India's energy and related needs.
The statement further said India was the only country, which despite not having signed the NPT and CTBT, had been allowed access to modern State of the art nuclear technology, Mr Paswan added.
