Over 20 injured in group clash
Balasore, Oct 2 (UNI) As many as 24 people, including four women, were injured in a clash between two rival groups of a minority community in Baliapal today.
Four people, who were seriously injured, were admitted to a local hospital.
Police said tension prevailed in the area and one platoon of police has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Sources said the problem started after a member of one group passed a remark on the other while offering prayers at the Khagdapal mosque on the occasion of Eid.
Soon, the rival groups were engaged in altercations, scuffles and then started pelting stones at each other for nearly half-an-hour.
The situation was brought under control after police intervened.
Basta Circle Inspector S K Beuria said two separate cases would be lodged against both the groups.
