Lalu Prasad Yadav vouches for minorities
New Delhi, Oct 2 : Union Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday lambasted Bajrang Dal and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for atrocities on downtrodden and tribals in Orissa and Karnataka.
He was addressing a gathering of Churches of Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) who staged a sit-in protest in support of the victims of Orissa at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Lalu also gave assurance to the victims of minority communities that he will raise their causes in Friday's Cabinet meeting.
He said he would ask the government what action has been taken under article 355.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) politburo member and member of Rajya Sabha Sita Ram Yachury, who also came to support the protest, said that the responsibility to save the lives of downtrodden and tribals particularly minority communities is not only the responsibility of State Governments.
He said the Centre must exercise their responsibility if the state government does not respond adequately.
Yachury further added that Orissa and Karnataka are not fair in their responsibility.
