Deshmukh to meet Ratan Tata soon over Nano project
Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said he would meet Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata within a week's time over the Nano small car project.
Talking to reporters after his arrival from Europe here, Mr Deshmukh said he had received a letter from Mr Tata in this regard.
He would be busy for a couple of days, but later he would meet Mr Tata as per convenience.
Asked where would the state government allot land to the Nano car project, Mr Deshmukh said first, let Mr Tata take a decision on the Singur (West Bengal) project. Thereafter, other things like land allotment would come up.
In August, Mr Deshmukh had made an open offer to Mr Tata to set up the Nano project in Maharashtra, ever since the project was mired in controversy in Singur, owing to protests over land granted to the motor makers. The Chief Minister had also promised to provide land and other facilities for the same.
Later, the chief ministers of several other states also evinced interest in setting up of the project.
