Yadav shocks second seed Kamal
Chandigarh, Oct 2 (UNI) Akshay Yadav pulled of an upset by shocking second seed S Kamal of Karnataka in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in the boys under-18 singles quarter-final of the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
Vishesh Sinha, a qualifier from Maharashtra shattered the aspirations of giant-killer qualifier Gurinder Singh by winning a closely-fought quarter-final by 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4). All three sets were decided in tie-breaker.
Mandeep Singh of CLTA advanced to the boys under-18 semi-final. He beat Tushal Thavani of Maharashtra in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The semi-final line up is: Vishesh vs Yeshwanth Madella of AP and Ajay Yadav vs Mandeep.
Three Delhi girls wild cards Arzoo Malik and Ankita Bhatia, second seed Smriti Joon and eighth seed Mehak of Chandigarh entered the girls under-18 singles semi-finals, Second seed Smriti Joon was exteded to three sets by wild card and sixth seed Noor Paul of Chandigarh in quarter-final match. Smriti won 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. The semi-final line-up is: Arzoo vs Mehak an Ankita vs Smriti Joon.
Top seed Nischay Rawal will meet Ranjeet in the boys under-14 in the first semi-final while from the lower half second seed Kamal Maderna is pitted against qualifier and sixth seed Tarun Nathi of Delhi in the second semi-final of the boys under-14 singles.

Girls under-18 singles (Q-finals): Arzoo bt Parminder Kaur 6-4, 6-1, Mehak bt Jaanesh 6-2, 6-1, Ankita bt Ravnoor 6-1, 7-6 (4), Samriti Joon bt Noor Paul 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
