Woman takes to making single frame sculptures

Kolkata, October 1, 2008 : A woman idol maker in Kolkata breaks the male bastion by making single frame sculptures for the five-day festival of 'Durga Puja'. China Pal has made considerable inroads into male-dominated profession through sheer will and determination. Her father, a conservative artisan, was of the view that idol making was the prerogative of men. However, China had to take over the business of her father as after her father expired in 1994.
