UP CM greets people on Eid, Gandhi Jayanti
Lucknow, Oct 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today greeted the people of the state on the eve of Eid, Gandhi Jayanti and birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
In a message, Ms Mayawati conveyed her heartiest greetings to the people, especially of Muslim community, on the ocassion of Eid and said the festival inspires us to remain together.
Eid is the festival that marks brotherhood and unity, she said.
The CM further said ''we are proud to be citizens of an independent nation.'' India achieved freedom through the efforts of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion, the people should resolve to help the needy.
UP Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav also wished the people on the occasion of Eid and said the festival inspires us to remain united.
Besides, they asked the people to follow the path shown by Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Besides, UP Congress president Sonia Gandhi greeted the people on the occasion and wished them peace and luck.
