Tirumala temple to get a Gold-makeover!

Tirupati, Oct 1: With the Brahmotsavam beginning on Wednesday, Oct 1, the TTD has decided to go in far a major gold renovation for Tirumala temple.

The gold cover for the temple, which was being discussed for years now, has finally bore fruit. 'Anantha Swarnamayam" (golden covering for the temple precincts) project work has begun from Wednesday, Oct 1 coinciding with the mega Brahmotsavams. The project is touted at 600 crore to 1000 crore. Sources said over 500 craftsmen from Kumbakonam and Poompuhar from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and TTD"s own artisans would be working on the project.

About 600 kg gold will be used, according to sources. Under the Swarnamayam project, even the walls and other structures would be decked in gold. The World's richest temple gets a Gold-makeover in 5 years... Wait and watch out!
