Tension in villages over drinking water supply problem

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 1 (UNI) Tension prevailed for a while as a section of residents of Valmalpalayam and surrounding villages resorted to road roko carrying empty pots and detained a State Transport Corporation's town bus at Valmalpalayam Village, near here, today protesting the erratic supply of drinking water.

According to the protestors, there was a problem in the water main last week.Despite repeated pleas, the authorities did not heed prompting them to resort to the agitation.

On information, officials and police rushed to the spot and persuaded the villagers restoring normalcy.
