Shri Prakash takes over as Member Traffic Railway Board

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Mr Shri Prakash has become new Member Traffic, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India, replacing Mr V N Mathur who retired yesterday.

Before assuming charge, Mr Prakash was the General Manager of Northern Railway. A Post Graduate in Mathematics and an MBA, Mr Prakash joined Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1972.

A distinguished officer of varied experience, Mr Shri Prakash held various key positions in different Zonal Railways and Railway Board, which includes Divisional Railway Manager of Dhanbad Division on the erstwhile Eastern Railway (now East Central Railway), Executive Director Tourism Transportation (M)) in the Railway Board, Executive Director (Statistics&Economics) as well as Executive Director and Team Leader of Project for development of Long Range Decision Support System.

Before assuming the charge of General Manager Northern Railway, he was holding the post of Adviser (Infrastructure), Railway Board.

He is a Visiting Senior Fellow to the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi.

He has specialisation in Operations, Planning, Information Technology and Safety besides General Management.
