Rupee opens five years low at 47.13/15 per USD
Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) The rupee today opened weaker to five years low at 47.13 against US dollar, with a big loss of 18 paise, from its previous finish of 46.95 on sustained selling pressure from local operators.
Later, it fluctuated in a wide range between 46.92 and 47.23 in mid-morning session.
Dealers said ''This was a major weakness since June two, 2003, when the rupee had weakened to 47.12 per US dollar. It is likely that the downward trend may continue further during the session in view of the present global financial crisis.'' UNI NV-AR SSS NP1235
