Prosecution filed chargesheet in Suresh Bhagat murder case

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) The Prosecution today filed a 3,400 pages chargesheet in the MCOCA court, in 'Matka' kingpin Suresh Bhagat's murder case, against eight people, including his wife and son.

The chargesheet was filed before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge Y D Shinde against the deceased's wife Jaya Chheda, his son Hitesh and gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli's aides Suhas Roge, Harish Mandvikar, Kiran Amli and Kiran Pujari.

According to the prosecution, in order to take control over the 'Matka'(gambling) business of Bhagat, accused Jaya and Hitesh hired contract killers and killed him in a road accident.

Police have seized property worth approximately Rs 17 crore, owned by the Bhagats, including plots of land and an industrial gala in the neighbouring textile town of Bhiwandi, which is estimated to be worth close to Rs 11 crore.

At least 147 witnesses have been mentioned in the chargesheet.

In July, Mandvikar had allegedly organised and supervised the orchestrated accident in which Bhagat and six others were killed while they were on their way to Mumbai from Alibaug.
