NDA misleading people on utilisation of power from Centre:RJD

Patna, Oct 1(UNI) The RJD today alleged that the Nitish Kumar government was misleading the people of Bihar on utilisation of electricity being received from the Central pool.

National spokesman of the party Shyam Rajak told mediapersons here that the NDA government was selling electricity received from Central pool to other states, meting out grave injustice to Bihar.

Citing related data in this regard, the RJD leader said the Bihar State Electricity Board had received 1035 MW from the Central pool at 8:23 AM on September 29 but only 773 MW was distributed among the consumers. Similary, at around 10:34 AM the same day, only 765 MW out of 1035 MW received from the Central pool was distributed among the consumers, he added.

''The deficit in availability of power from the Centre and its subsequent distribution is an indication that electricity was being sold to other states depriving people of our own state,'' he added.

Mr Rajak said when the matter was raised by the RJD,the deficit on availability of power from the Centre and its distribution had come down considerably.The clarification made by the state electricity board that less power was being drawn from the Central pool due to fault was totally misleading, as how was it rectified only after the RJD raised the issue, he wondered.

''On September 30, the state electricity board had received 1006 MW from the Centre and 933 MW was distributed among the consumers, leaving a gap of only 73 MW, which was further narrowed down during the later part of the day,'' Mr Rajak pointed out.

''Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should apologise before the people of the state why he allowed the masses to suffer despite availability of power from the Centre,'' the RJD leader said and added that people would not forgive the NDA government for its 'irresponsible' behaviour.
