Muslims celebrate Id-uL-Fitr in Pondy

Puducherry, Oct 1(UNI) Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm by Muslims in the Union Territory of Puducherry today.

Faithful in large numbers attended special prayers held at various Mosques and Darghas in different places to celebrate Eid, marking the end of the month-long Ramadan fasting.

Exchanging plesantaries after 'Niskar,' Muslims gave alms to the poor and organised feasts.

Puducherry Lt Governor Govind Singh Gurjar, Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and his cabinet collegues besides leaders of various political parties greeted the people on the occasion of Eid.
