Mob clashes with UP minister's guards in Chandauli

Lucknow, Oct 1 (UNI) People demanding issu once of a new transformer clashed with the security personnel of Uttar Pradesh cultural minister Subhash Pandey in Mugalsarai area of Chandauli district today, police said.

People of Jalil station area had blocked the road over their demand of replacing damaged transformer with the new one. They clashed with the cultural minister Mr Pandey's security personnel, who had asked the mob to lift the blockade and clear route for them to move to Varanasi.

The agitators resorted to stone pelting and damaged Mr Pandey's car, no one was injured in the incident.

Later, Varanasi district magistrate and other senior officials reached the spot, but the blockade could only be lifted after the minister assured the protestors of early issuance of new transformer in place of transformer that was non-functional since last 20 days.

Chandauli SP Sanjay Srivasatava said Bharatiya Kisan Union workers staged agitation at regular intervals over shortage of water and power in the region.
