Lady Hardinge doctor found dead

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) A 26-year-old doctor of the prestigious Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) allegedly committed suicide at his hostel room in the hospital premises this morning.

The body of Navneet Prasad, a student of MS in orthopaedics at the LHMC, was brought to the hospital at about 1245 hrs, according to a hospital official.

''Hailing from Patna, Prasad lived in roon number 127 of the House Surgeon Block and has been a student for the last three years here,'' he said.

He was posted at the Ram Mahnohar Lohia (RML) Hospital and today when he did not reach there, they called up to check but even after his friends made repeated knocks on his door and there was no response, the police was called.

After breaking open the door, he was found lying on his bed.

His friends said there were no signs of any struggle or attack.

A senior hospital official said only the postmortem report would be able to tell how he died, but it could also be natural death, as heart attacks at a younger age is often lethal.

No suicide note has been found so far, he added.

Meanwhile, sources said it was a suicide case as Prasad did not have any enmity and was an introvert.
