Gujjars to present memorandum to Governor
Jaipur, Oct 1 (UNI) The Gujjar Reservation Action Committee will carry out a peaceful march to Raj Bhawan demanding Governor S K Singh's early nod to the Rajasthan Reservation Bill 2008, paving way for reservation to Gujjars under Most Backward Class category and to economically backward groups in unreserved General castes.
The action Committee Convener Col(Retd) Kirori Singh Bainsla said the peace march would begin tomorrow from Chomu House Circle here to reach to the Civil Lines level crossing from where a delegation would go to Raj Bhawan to submit memorandum to the Governor.
The Bill for extending 5 per cent reservation to Gujjars and three other castes under the Most Backward Classes and 14 per cent reservation to economically backward people in unreserved higher castes, was passed in the Rajasthan Assembly in July earlier this year.
The action committee had already expressed its dissatisfaction over delay in the clearance of the Bill from the Raj Bhawan.
