Delhi: Man given lifer for raping daughter

New Delhi, Oct 1: After the 'Dungeon Dad' issue created headlines and horror all over the world, a similar incident was reported from Delhi. A Prem Nagar resident, Ram Dhawan was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his 14 year old daughter.

Alongwith life sentence, convict Ram Dhawan was fined Rs 6,000 and his leniency plea was also rejected. As the couple was facing some marital problems, the child was living with the father. The wife alleged that he had taken benefit of the same. ''He (convict) has maligned the pious father-daughter relationship. The accused took the benefit of the fact that his wife used to reside separately and child resided with him,"" the court said.

The victim's statement and medical report was taken into confidence to hold Dhawan guilty for rape and criminal intimidation.
