CM assures to safeguard senior citizens interest
Panaji, Oct 1 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat today assured that the state government will endeavour to solve the genuine problems of senior citizens sympathetically and safeguard their interests.
Mr Kamat, on the occasion of World Elders Day celebration, organised by Forum for Senior Citizens of India here, listed various schemes and facilities extended by the state government for the welfare of the senior citizens.
He also expressed happiness over the senior citizens coming together in large numbers on such occasions and assured to provide sufficient space for the office of the Forum.
He said the government is contemplating to bring reforms in some of the government departments, to help the commonman.
Shantaram Naik, MP, who was also present on the occasion, emphasised the need to effectively implement the existing law by the state Government meant for the welfare of senior citizens.
