Air Marshal Radhakrishnan assumes charge of SAC

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 1 (UNI) Air Marshal S Radhakrishnan today took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Air Command (SAC) here.

He was given a ceremonial guard of honour at the Command headquarters in Akkulam.

After taking over charge, he said he was happy to take over the reins of SAC, the youngest in the country, in its silver jubilee year.

The role of this crucial command would grow in the coming days with setting up of air enclaves at various places in this region, Air Marshal said.

Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in 1970, Air Marshal Radhakrishnan is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy.

Prior to present assignment, he was the Commander-in-Chief of the strategically important Andaman and Nicobar Command, the only operational integrated command of the Indian Armed Forces.
