60 fell ill after food poisoning.
Dharamshala, Oct 1 (UNI) About sixty villagers, including women and children, fell ill, some of them seriously, after they consumed food at a marriage party in village Jalot, a remote area of Nagrota Bagwan of this sub division, late this evening.
Former Transport Minister G S Bali, was first to inform the authorities about the food poisoning incident. State Health Minister Dr Rajeev Bindal, who was on way to Paprola in this district when informed about the tragedy, geared up the administration and rushed to Tanda immediately.
Dr Bindal said that 25 patients were brought from the village Jalot and admitted in the Dr R P Government Medical College Tanda.
He said ambulances have been rushed to Jalot village to bring other affected people to Tanda and other near by hospitals.
He said that medical teams have also been sent to the village to provide immediate medical aid to the people on the spot. He said the cause of the food poisoning would be inquired in to but rescue operation was immediate priority of the authorities. Dr Bindal said that he was personally supervising the treatment and the rescue operation of the affected people and administration was put on an alert.
