Laying water, sewer lines in unauth col to be accelerated: Sheila

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the Delhi Jal Board would accelerate laying of water and sewer lines in all unauthorised colonies to change face of these colonies before commencement of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking at a function after laying the foundation stone of a 146 Lakh litre capacity Underground Reservoir and Booster Pumping Station at Chhattarpur, Ms Dikshit said the Delhi Jal Board would ensure equitable drinking water distribution and adequate availability of water before 2010 in Delhi.

The Chief Minister said the DJB would construct 53 UGRs before the commencement of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking at the function, where area MP Sajjan Kumar, MLA Balram Tanwar and senior officers of the DJB were present, Ms Dikshit described this an important project which once completed would overcome scarcity of drinking water in Chatterpur and Mangolpuri Assembly Segments apart from enhancement of pressure of supply even at tail end.

The UGR, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7221 lakh, would become functional by December 2009.
