K'taka govt orders Lokayukta probe into land alltments

Bangalore, Sep 30 (UNI) In a major offensive against its former coalitation partner Janatadal (S), the BJP Government in Karnataka today ordered a Lokayukta inquiry into three controversial decisions made by the previous government headed by H D Kumaraswamy, including the allotment of over 12,000 acres of land in and around the city to Nandagudi SEZ project.

Addressing a joint press conference, five ministers of the BJP government -- Katta Subramanya Naidu, R Ashok, K S Eshwarappa, Basavaraj Bommai, Aravinda Limbavali, said the decision to hand over inquiry to Lokayukta for Nandagudi SEZ project was taken as it was done after BJP had withdrew its support to JD(S).

The project had evoked strong opposition by the farmers owing the land in the area which had high real estate value after the explosive development of the Bangalore city.

Making a scathing attack on former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for hurling baseless allegations against the BJP government on the Ejipura EWS housing Complex project, the ministers alleged that it was a part of a conspiracy hatched against the BJP government, which had emerged 'very popular and powerful'.

He said the state government, besides handing over the Ejipura project to Lokayukta also decided to appeal it to hold a probe into two other controversial decisions made by the previous government.
