J'khand to demand special package for Palamu's drought
Daltonganj, Sep 30 (UNI) Jharkhand agriculture minister Nalin Soren today said his government will demand a Rs 500 crore special package from the Centre to face the drought like situation in Palamu division.
Mr Soren, accompanied by health minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi, was here to attend a high-level meeting called to discuss the nature of drought in Palamu division.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mr Soren said the Centre would be apprised of the situation and the government would also demand a special package of about Rs 500 crore.
Mr Soren said the condition of farmers in the area was pathetic as the entire crop of corn and more than 75 per cent crop of rice was damaged.
He said a directive had also been issued to the officials concerned to expedite the implementation of welfare schemes so that people do not face any crisis.
