Congress flays LDF for anti-Centre agitation
Kozhikode, Sep 30 (UNI) Criticising the CPI(M)-led ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala for its proposed anti-Centre agitation, the Congress today said the move was aimed at covering up its ''failure'' in more than two years of ''misrule.'' Talking to newspersons here, AICC Secretary Kodikkunnil Suresh said the proposed march to Parliament, to be led by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, on October 17 in protest against the ''neglect'' of Kerala by the Centre was mainly to conceal the LDF's misrule of the state.
He said such an agitation was planned against the Centre despite the allocation of millions of rupees for various projects in the state over and above its entitlement.
Describing the move as ''politically-motivated'', Mr Suresh said it was aimed at the coming Lok Sabha elections in the country.
Claiming that the Left-ruled West Bengal had not organised any anti-Centre agitation so far, he said such agitations would not get the support of the people.
As per the stir announced by LDF Convener Vaikom Viswan yesterday, ministers, MLAs and MPs would take part in the march against the Centre's action of slashing food grain quota to the state and not allotting adequate electricity from the Central pool.
