By-elections will be held with in stipulated time: CEC

Bangalore, Sep 30: Byelections to the eight Karnataka Legislative Assembly seats vacant will be held within the expiry of the stipulated six months time, Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami said on Tuesday, Sep 30.

Speaking to newspersons after inaugurating of Mass Manufacturing Facility at Defence Public Sector Bharat Electronics Limited, which manufactures Electronic Voting Machines, he said that it would be held in accordance with the prescribed law.

The six seats have fallen vacant following death of a sitting legislator and resignation of seven MLAs to join ruling BJP party.

The seats laying vacant are Doddaballapur, Koratagere, Turuvekere, Karwar, Devadurga, Arabhavi, Chikodi and Maddur.
