Army to aid meritorious children in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 30: The 57 Mountain Division has set up a boys' hostel christened Disha at Leimakhong, near the military headquarters in Manipur, to aid the meritorious students in the state.

After inaugurating the hostel, 3 Corps GOC Lt Gen RK Loomba commended the 57 Mountain Division for its first-of-its-kind initiative in the state, stating that children from the weaker section of the society would get a platform to excel in life.

Disha, the brainchild of AVSM of Army Commander of Eastern Command Lt Gen VK Singh,is starting with a strenght of ten children.

Besides providing education free of cost, all the expenses of the hostel will be borne by the 57 Mountain Division.
