Sugar prices ease on larger stock arrivals

Navi Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) Sugar prices today drifted lower on sluggish bulk consumer demand in the face of better inflows from cooperative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association (BSMA) said.

Prices of small and medium grade sugar fell by Rs five and Rs seven per quintal respectively, on increased selling pressure by stockists, traders said.

In ex-mill grade too, small and medium grades slashed by Rs Rs 10 per quintal each, amid sustained heavy selling pressure by bulk conumsers, traders added.

Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,726/1,780, medium grade: Rs 1,756/1,8350, Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,710/1,735 and medium grade: Rs 1,740/1,790.
