PRP denies electoral understanding with TRS
Hyderabad, Sep 29 (UNI) Praja Rajyam Party today denied that it had struck an ''electoral understanding'' with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti President K Chandrasekar Rao for the 2009 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to newspersons here, spokesman of the party P Prabakar maintained that no meeting had taken place between PRP founder and actor-turned-politican Chiranjeevi and Mr Rao.
The clarification from Mr Prabakar came in the wake of media reports that the two parties had reached a ''political understanding'' after a one-to-one meeting between the two leaders and Mr Chiranjeevi had decided to contest the next Assembly elections from a constituency in the Telangana region.
It may be noted that CPI State Secretary K Narayana held separate meetings with Mr Chiranjeevi and Mr Rao in an effort to evolve a third front in the state politics to provide people an alternative to the ruling Congress and the opposition TDP, by roping in ''like-minded'' parties including the CPI(M), PRP, and TRS.
