President visits Chitrakote waterfall

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Sep 29 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, currently on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, today visited the picturesque Chitrakote waterfall on the Indrawati river in Bastar district.

Chitrakote waterfall, about 40 Km from here, is a major tourist attraction in the tribal-dominated backward district.

Ms Patil, who arrived in the state capital yesterday, went to the waterfall spot in a helicopter this morning. She was welcomed among others by Revenue Minister Brijmohan Agrawal and Public Health Engineering Minister Kedar Kashyap.

She later visited an exhibition of handicraft and tribal arts and met the artisans and functionaries of non-government organisations.

She commended the high quality of the handicraft made by the tribals.

Ms Patil is scheduled to return to Raipur this afternoon and leave for New Delhi this evening.
