Precious idol worth Rs 10 cr seized, 4 nabbed

Ghazipur, Sep 29 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Uttar Pradesh police today seized an ancient idol of Lord Vishnu, estimated at Rs 10 crore in the international market, with the arrest of four smugglers here.

Acting on a tip off, the policemen halted a bus heading towards Varanasi and seized the idol weighing around 27 kgs, Superintendent of Police (SP) A K Jain said.

The precious idol was said to be stolen from Bihar.

Four people have been detained in this regard.

Meanwhile, the SP has announced a reward of Rs 2,500 for those who provided information about the smugglers.
