Mah Legislative Council bypoll on October 23
New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) By-election to a seat of the Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on October 23, the Election Commission announced here today.
The seat, held by Navnath Bhaurao Ahvad, was declared vacant on July 18 this year in accordance with the provisions of clause (4) of Article 190 of the Constitution, before the expiration of his term of office which was up to July 7, 2010.
The notification for the bypoll will be issued on October six and the last date for filing nominations is October 13.
Scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 14.The counting will take place on October 23 itself. The process of elections would be completed before October 25.
