KMC employees stage dharna on waste disposal issue
Kolhapur, Sep 29 (UNI) The employees of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) today staged a day-long dharna in front of the district collectorate, demanding allotment of suitable place for dumping the city's waste.
Before the dharna, employees gathered infront of the KMC main office, led by Employees Sanghatan chief Ramesh Desai, and marched to the district collectorate.
Though the State Government had allotted to KMC a waste depot near village Halsavade and another village but these places were opposed by the employees.
The employees stayed away from work and affected the disposal and collection work of waste.
The KMC employees also faced protests of villagers as local MLAs and political leaders supported the villagers.
