Chandigarh, Sept 29 (UNI) The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) today said it has achieved a record generation of 458 lakh units of power in a single day yesterday, which is the highest ever since its formation.

A spokesman said here that the HPGCL is improving its record of power generation continuously from September 26 onwards, with the generating units producing 438 lakh units on that day followed by 444 lakh units next day.

He said the 210 MW and 250 MW power generating units of thermal station Panipat achieved a plant load factor (PLF) of more than 100 per cent, which went upto 102.62 per cent.

As per technical norms the units had been designed with a margin of three per cent over the rated capacity. Overall plant load factor of the power generating units of the plant was 89.49 per cent.

Giving details of power generated at the Thermal Power Station Yamuna Nagar, he said that the plant contributed 141.50 lakh units of power to the State kitty at a remarkable PLF. The two 300 MW generating units of the plant achieved a PLF of 98.26 per cent bettering its own record of 94.79 cent achieved on September 25.

He said the HPGCL, on an average, had targeted to contribute 343 lakh units of electricity daily to the state. The contribution by the HPGCL generating units had helped minimising state's dependence on other power supplying agencies.

It also helped in less over-drawls from the northern grid, for which the state had to pay a higher cost.

The spokesman also said that the consistency in performance of the power generating units would be ensured for which all possible efforts are being initiated.
