K'taka: Lok Ayukta must probe housing complex tender
Bangalore, Sep 29: Terming the Karnataka Government's decision to award tender to construct housing complex for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in Ejipura here to a private company in a case of 'nepotism', the Congress today demanded a Lok Ayukta inquiry into it.
Addressing the press here, Congress Spokesperson B L Shankar accused Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa of gross violation of established rules in taking various decisions, ''exhibiting favouritism, nepotism and opportunistic policies.'' Referring to state government's recent decision to award tender to construct the housing complex to a party functionary, Mr Shankar alleged the Chief Minister took the decision without the Cabinet's approval.
He asked Yeddyurappa to come out clean by allowing the Opposition leaders to access files in the Karnataka Legislature.
''The Karnataka government should order an inquiry into it and take punitive measures against the company,'' he demanded.
