7 killed in Doda road accident

Jammu, Sep 29 (UNI) At least seven persons, including two policemen, were killed and 27 injured when a speeding bus skidded off the road and fell into a 300-metre deep gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today.

''The accident accurred when driver of the bus, en route from Doda to Jammu, suffered a cardiac arrest and lost control over the wheels while negotiating a sharp turn near Neeru nullah, official sources told UNI.

While four passengers died on the spot, three others succumbed on way to the district hospital, sources added.

The police party, army and the locals on receiving the information, rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.

Of 27 injured, 11 critically wounded have been referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, a senior police official said.
