Travel Clinic, Immunisation Centre launched

Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) Boosters, the Immune and Travel Clinic, and an Immunisation Centre for all ages, was launched here today.

A first of its kind clinic in India, it would be useful to all adolescents, adults, health care workers, global travellers and Corporates.

The Vaccine requirements vary with age, health, lifestyle and occupational factors. 'Boosters' was dedicated to preventive health and offers comprehensive immunisation services to teens and adults.

Speaking on the occasion, Boosters Managing Director Ramasubramanian, who is also Senior Consultant, Infectious Diseases at Apollo Hospitals, said the adult immunisation centre would provide knowledge about the various adult vaccinations, make them available both at the centre and at the place of work, maintaining strict cold chain systems to keep the vaccines effective.

''These vaccinations will provide protection for several years against typhoid, jaundice, chicken-pox, pneumococcal infections among others. Vaccination follow-up services and recalls for booster doses will also be provided'', he added.

Dr Ramasubramanian said the travel clinic would cater to all travel-related health needs, including mandatory vaccinations like yellow fever and other recommended vaccines, tailor-made for various destinations. Prophylactic medicines, advice on likely infections and health problems at the destinations and point of contact in case of illness would also be provided.
