Security tightened in TN following Delhi blast
Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) Security has been tightened in Tamil Nadu in the wake of yesterday's blast in New Delhi that claimed two lives.
Police sources said vehicle checks, combing operations in lodges and police patrolling have been intensified across the city and in the State.
Adequate security has been provided at places of worship and security beefed up at Chennai Central railway station and Egmore railway station and passengers were allowed entry only after strict screening.
Besides important temples and places of worship, police have mounted surveillance at all places, where public congregate in large numbers.
Security was also stepped up at the Chennai Airport and in mofussil bus stand at Koyambedu.
All the vehicles entering the city were subjected to thorough checks.
Meanwhile, the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, Lord Murugan temple in Palani, Kapaleeswarar Temple in Chennai and Sri Ranganathar Temple in Srirangam have come under thick security blanket following intelligence inputs that they could be the target of some banned organisations.
