Rs 2.12 cr disbursed among OBC students in J
Srinagar, Sep 28 (UNI) Under the Contributory Social Security Scheme (CSSS), the Department of Social Welfare has disbursed Rs 2.12 crore among the students of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
An official spokesman said today as many as 77744 students of OBC have received benefits of pre-Matric scholarship involving Rs 2.12 crore during the last financial year. To cover 99098 beneficiaries during the current financial year, an allocation of Rs 2.49 crore has been fixed for the same purpose.
He said that Rs 31.08 lakh were disbursed among 9578 beneficiaries during the year 2007-08.
An outlay of Rs 80 lakh has been earmarked for the current financial year to benefit 53300 beneficiaries.
Rs 1.96 crore have been disbursed amongst 80047 students belonging to Schedule Casts (CS) category as pre-Matric scholarship during the previous year.
An outlay of Rs 2.42 crore has been earmarked for covering 98855 students during the current year.
Similarly the Department has released Rs 1.76 crore as post-Matric scholarship in favour of 2998 students of OBC category during the year 2007-08. An outlay of Rs 1.14 core has been fixed for covering 7828 students during the current financial year.
