Pondy takes steps to attract tourists
Puducherry, Sep 28 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration is taking several measures to boost tourism in the Union Territory.
According to official sources here today, the airport at Lawspet would be operational by the end of November this year.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) had spent Rs 18 crore for various develpmental works, including runway extension, at the airport till now, the sources said.
The Centre had sanctioned Rs 4.96 crore for beach development works. The administration had also planned to set up a family entertainment centre and food court at Murugambakkam on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Such facility would also be started in Karaikal region, which was attracting a lot of tourists, they added.
