Miscreants assault ZP office bearer in Maharashtra

Yavatmal, Maharashtra, Sep 28 (UNI) A group of miscreants, armed with sticks, assaulted an office bearer of the Yavatmal Zilla Parishad (ZP) and damaged furniture at his residence here today.

The activists, reportedly of Shiv Sena, stormed into the residence of ZP Education and Health Committee Chairman Devanand Pawar and assaulted him.

They were irked at his statement over the distribution of cattle under the relief packages for farmers, announced by the Centre and the State Government, police said.

Mr Pawar has lodged a complaint with police, but no offence has been registered so far.

A war or words has been raging among political parties in Yavatmal over the implementation of the relief package for farmers.
