Bijli Nigam to install signages on transformers

Chandigarh, Sep 28 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam plans to put signages on the distribution transformers for the convenience of field staff and electricity consumers and to facilitate immediate attendance of fault with the help of their identity in the event of fuse, burning or damage of transformers.

At present the Nigam is having more than 1.10 lakh distribution transformers in its command area.

A spokesman for the Nigam said here today that on an average, a large group of consumers, varying from 150 to 400 is affected, if there was a technical problem in the transformer which causes inconvenice. In that case, the affected consumers would be able to contact the Bijli Suvidha Kendras immediately for which the Nigam would display the telephone numbers also on them for lodging complaints or if something goes wrong with the distribution transformers.

He said that the technical details for the convenience of field staff and their identification marks for the convenience of consumers would be displayed on each transformer. A standard design and size of signage would be prepared by the head office.

It would be ensured that the transformers are installed on specific height to avoid accidents. In case, it was not technically feasible to install these as per specifications, it would be ensured that they are installed on cemented plinth with proper safeguards and fencing.

He also said that the Nigam also plans to suitably appreciate the services of officer/staff with minimum damage rate of transformers on the basis of performance during every financial year.
