UPA Govt failed to combat terrorist attacks: Venkaiah
Hyderabad, Sep 27 (UNI) Condemning the bomb blast in New Delhi today within two weeks of the serial blasts, former BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu alleged that the UPA Government hadtotally failed to combat terrorist attacks in the country.
Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Naidu said the UPA Government had failed on all fronts and was not able to protect the lives of innocent people.
Demanding strict acts like POTA to deal with terrorists, he claimed that UPA Government was resorting to vote bank politics.
''It has been proved that the UPA is incompetent, ineffective and has no commitment to deal with the terrorists,'' he said.
''People had not seen such incompetent Government at the Centre,'' he claimed and asked the Government to give up vote bank politics.
He demanded the Government to invoke POTA to firmly deal with the terrorists.
There must be special courts to deal with terror cases and all the organisations that support terrorists, should be banned immediately, he demanded and alleged that the UPA Government was not able to deal with terrorism in the country due to lack of political will. ''Terrorists have no caste and religion. We need will and bill to tackle the situation to wage a war against it in the country,'' he added.
He called upon people and human rights organisations to come out to save the lives of innocent people by waging war against terrorists.
''Islam does not encourage terrorism. Though our neighbouring country Pakistan, who herself is facing the same problem, is encouraging terrorist attacks'' he said and alleged that the UPA Government had failed to control the incidents.
Mr Naidu claimed that the UPA Government was adopting a hardline on nationalists and was soft on terrorists.
''As long as the UPA Government continues vote bank politics, these unfortunate incidents would recur,'' he added.
